Rosemarie Steele, 78, of Harlowton, Montana, passed away peacefully at her home on June 30, 2025.
Born on December 12, 1946, to Benjamin and Roberta Steele, Rosemarie was a lifelong Montanan known for her strength, independence, and deep love for her family. She raised her four children, Dean Thompson, Wendy Elwood, Faron Thompson (Amritha Faron), and Kari Gray (Jason Gray), as a single mother, dedicating her life to their wellbeing and happiness. Her devotion only grew as her family did, and she cherished each of her eleven grandchildren: Brittany, Brianne, Gavin, Jack, Dayden, Payton, Drake, Ryann, Dante, Mythri, and Arya. She also loved her great-grandchild, Sawyer. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "G Rose," a name that became a cherished term of endearment in the family.
Rosemarie proudly served Wheatland County as Treasurer for over 30 years, retiring in 2012. Her commitment to her work and community left a lasting legacy of dedication and integrity.
Outside of her professional life, Rosemarie was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cross-stitch, always crafting with care and creativity. In her later years, she found great joy in golfing and spent countless hours on the fairways of Jawbone Creek Country Club in Harlowton, where she found peace, friendship, and fun.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild; her sister, Julie Jorgenson (Jim); her brothers, Paul Miller and Sean Steele; and her stepmother, Shirley Steele. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Steele and Roberta Miller.
The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Karen Hammel for her care and kindness, especially over the past year, and for the many trips she made taking Rosemarie to appointments.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and open to all who wish to attend.
Donations in Rosemarie's memory may be made to Journey Winds or the Jawbone Creek Country Club, where she spent many happy days.
