Roy Banks ObituaryRoy Lee Banks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on December 10, 1942, in
Childress, Texas, where he spent the majority of his life surrounded by family and friends who loved him deeply.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday July 9, 2025 at 7:30 pm at Johnson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday July 10, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Roy proudly served his country as a Private First Class (E-2) in the United States Marine Corps from October 1962 until December 1965. His service was a great source of pride throughout his life.
After returning home, Roy dedicated 53 years of hard work at Crossroads Tires and later worked at Daddy's Tires a bit before retiring. He was a man of strong work ethic and unwavering commitment, admired by coworkers and customers alike.
Outside of work, Roy found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved playing pool, listening to music, watching Texas Rangers baseball games, and taking trips to the casino. He was also a devoted member of the Elks Lodge volunteer center for 36 years, where he built lifelong friendships and took pride in serving his community.
In 1976, Roy married the love of his life, Mary. Together they raised five children: Debbie, Katie, Junior, Eunice, and Michael. Roy was a proud grandfather to Micailyn, Brittany, Jennifer, Christy, Chris, and Wilson, and a great-grandfather to seven beautiful children.
Roy was known for his outgoing personality, his pride, and the way he lit up any room he entered. He loved to be the center of attention and was deeply loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Among his many joys in life, his special bond with his granddaughter Micailyn stood out. He always spoke highly of her, celebrated her achievements - especially her high school graduation - and remained endlessly proud of all she accomplished.
Roy is welcomed in death by his parents, Gracie and Rufus, his sisters Luella and Goldie, and his brothers Junior, Wayne, and Gene. As he would often say, he was "the end of the caboose," and his passing marks the closing of a cherished chapter in his family's story.
Roy's legacy of love, pride, and unwavering support lives on through his family and all those who were lucky enough to call him a friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered
