Martin Bystry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary on Feb. 20, 2026.
Martin Daniel Bystry transitioned from this life on Feb. 6th, 2026 due to complications from heart disease. Born in Riverside CA, he was the third child of Steve and Darlene (Pauley) Bystry. He moved to Carrollton, IL as a child in the early 70s, where he made many friends and had numerous fond memories.

Returning to CA, Martin graduated from Troy High School in Fullerton, where he played varsity football. He studied radio and television broadcasting at Fullerton Jr. College and in 1985 graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in communications.

Always a hard worker, he started his professional career in 1979 at Hughes Aircraft Corporation, working at both the Fullerton and Buena Park facilities. He soon advanced to an engineering position specializing in the Ad-Cap torpedo program. Later, he worked as a video engineer at Post Modern Edit in Irvine. Most recently, he worked at Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) strengthening his faith and utilizing his skills in television broadcasting.

Martin lived life to the fullest, enjoying many exciting and challenging adventures. He was a licensed pilot flying small engine planes throughout southern CA, including several flights to Catalina. He was an accomplished parachutist with over 60 jumps, mostly in Paris Valley. He ran the 26-mile LA Marathon and participated in several "Big Adventures" with friends, tackling hikes up San Gorgonio Mountain, for the thrill of skiing down it.

Martin loved sports, playing semi-pro football for the Orange County Rhinos in the mid-80s. He enjoyed watching football and was remarkably good at Fantasy Football, winning several championships in two separate leagues. He loved his dogs, especially Hammie.

He is survived by his mother, Darlene (Bystry) Mount; Sister, Stephanie Goebel; brothers, Phil, Tom, and Doug Bystry, daughter Heidi Altieri, ex-wives Stephanie and Valerie, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Martin led a spiritual, adventuresome and rewarding life. He will be missed.

Services will be held at Memorial Garden Chapel / Cemetery in Brea on February 27th at 1:00 pm.
