Russell Ray Hinds, 74, passed away July 6, 2025, at his home in Claflin, Kansas. He was born on May 6, 1951, in Stafford, Kansas to Elberta Carl and Ahiala (Countryman) Hinds. On January 14, 2013, he married Vicki Sue Julian in Claflin. She passed on December 25, 2023.
A lifetime area resident, Russell worked in highway construction for Venture Corporation prior to his retirement. He was a member of the former Great Bend Friends Church. Russell enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his animals.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Hinds of Longview, Texas; granddaughter, Brianna of Longview, Texas; great granddaughter; brother, Randy Hinds and wife Dawn of Meridan, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sharon Ann Hinds of Independence, Kansas; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers, Elmer Carl Hinds and John Mahlon Hinds.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at Pawnee Rock Cemetery, with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg presiding. Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
