Ruth Ann Dedeaux, age 84, of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Bay St. Louis.
Ruth was born on October 16, 1940, in Gulfport to Nary Louis and Veta Faye Dedeaux. She graduated from Gulfport High School, class of 1958, where she was homecoming queen. Ruth attended The University of Southern Mississippi, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and William Carey College, obtaining her Master of Science in Social Work. She worked for many years in the nursing profession, including her work at Memorial Hospital, VA Hospital in Gulfport, as well as working as a Home Health Care nurse and operating an assisted living home.
Ruth was fiercely proud of her four sons whom she mostly raised by herself with love and dedication for which her sons will be eternally grateful. She returned to school while raising them to better provide for her family, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1979. Ruth’s love and devotion extended to her grandchildren who called her “Momo”, and her greatest joy was spending time with all her family. She had a great sense of humor, loved working in her yard and sipping on a good cup of coffee, and was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederic Michael “Mickey” Vann; and siblings, Faye Jean Dedeaux Fasold, Peggy Joyce Dedeaux Bowden Collins, and Danny Louis Dedeaux.
Survivors include her children, Dennis Vann, Terry Vann (Carol), Scott Vann (Talmadge), and Tony Vann (Theresa); grandchildren, Conner Vann, Liam Vann, Rachel Vann, Valerie Vann, Kellen Vann, Josie Vann, and Kylie Vann; and one great-grandchild.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dunbar Village Terrace of Bay St. Louis for their loving support.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge Gardens Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Dedeaux family.
