Ruth Carolyn Hayman, of the Burns Community age 88, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Mississippi Care Center in Raleigh, Mississippi.
She was born on April 23, 1937, in Smith County, MS, Ruth Carolyn Hayman was the daughter of Herman and Mellie Henderson. She was a member and faithful servant of Homewood Baptist Church where she served as the organist until she retired. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her four sons and a talented seamstress. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Burns Homemakers Club. She was an amazing artist and along with her many landscape paintings, she was known for painting Baptistry murals for several local churches that included Burns Baptist, Mt. Carmel Baptist, High Hill Baptist, and East Side Baptist. She and her husband enjoyed their retirement years fishing and camping at Lake Washington in the Mississippi Delta.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Leon Carrol Hayman, her father, Herman Henderson, her mother, Mellie Russum Henderson, and her brother, Charles Henderson. Survivors include her four sons, Michael Hayman (Roberta) of Senoia GA, Mark Hayman (Peggy) of Gallatin, TN, Brent Hayman (Sonya) of Jackson, TN, and Scott Hayman (Kelly) of Raleigh, MS. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one step great-great-grandchild.
Her visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral services at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Homewood Baptist Church in Homewood, MS.
Pastor Doyle Boyles will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Homewood Baptist Cemetery.
