Mrs. Ruth "Dank" Elizabeth Kirkland of Moss Point, MS, transitioned eternally on June 30, 2025. Ruth was born March 28, 1963, to Annie Brandon and the late Trayvilla Davenport. She graduated from Moss Point High in 1982. She was the loving wife of the late Derick Kirkland, Sr. She was a member of Summerville United Methodist Church in Moss Point, MS. She loved watching football games, but most of all, she loved watching her team, the Saints. She also enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Ruth was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding for 15 years as a Sheetmetalist. She was also a member of the Charles Clark Post #243 and the Magnolia Elks.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Derick Kirkland, Sr. of Moss Point, MS; her father, Trayvilla Davenport of Lancaster, VA; her sister, Monica Davenport of Moss Point, MS; grandmother, Nancy Harris of Escatawpa, MS; grandfather, Jessie Harris of Escatawpa, MS; mother-in-law, Betty (Kaysee) Kirkland of Moss Point, MS.
She leaves to cherish her memories loving mother, Annie (Willie) Brandon; four sons, Cornell (Krystal) Davenport, Octavious McMillan, Donta Davenport, and Derick Kirkland, Jr., all of Moss Point, MS; two daughters, Kimberly (Jerrod) Davis of Gautier, MS and Precious Davenport of Pascagoula, MS; one stepson, Jeremy Kirkland; seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, and one great grandson; one brother, Larry (Lisa) Smith; two sisters, Sandra Smith and Lily Nelson all of Moss Point, MS; one uncle, John (Shirley) High of Moss Point, MS.
Special friends, Loretta Hunter, Dora Young, Hermine Robinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
