Ruth was born March 20, 1939, Natural Bridge Rockbridge County, Virgina. Daughter of Houston J. Hatcher and Carrie Lillian Watkins Hatcher.
She was a baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert T Lewis; brothers Houston Hatcher Jr., Henry M. Hatcher, Gilmore W. Hatcher, and Daniel Lee Hatcher, sisters June Hatcher Rafferty, Carrie L. Hatcher Walker.
Surviving are, daughter Lesa J. Preul (Stephen) of Saint Helena Island SC; sons R. Wade Lewis (Sylvia) of Richmond Hill Ga., and Rodney T. Lewis (Sandi) of SC; sisters Susie Hatcher Denson of Roanoke Va., Margaret Hatcher Watt of Natural Bridge Va., Stefanie Miller of Va.; grandchildren Bryan W. Lewis (Ottilia) of Roanoke Va., Kevin T. Lewis of Savannah Ga., Holly D. Lewis of Richmond Hill Ga., Hunter Smith of SC, Andrea Lewis Anderson of Ohio; great grandchildren, Regean and Logan Anderson of Ohio, Madeline Lewis of Roanoke Va.
