RUTHANN WILSON
Longtime Harrah community leader and business owner Ruthann Wilson, 96, passed from this life to her rewards in Heaven and a glorious reunion with family and friends on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Edmond. She was born to Clarence Williams and Ruth (Dixon) Williams on July 23, 1928, in Chandler, OK. The family moved to Nicoma Park in 1929. Ruthann graduated from Choctaw High School in 1946. She then graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha in 1950.
Ruthann married John Wilson on August 5, 1950, in the Nicoma Park Christian Church. He preceded her in death in October of 1973. Later in life married A.R. Boydston in February of 2010 and he preceded her in death in May of 2012.
Ruthann was employed by the Dallas YWCA for one year while John attended Mortuary School, the couple returned to Oklahoma in 1951. The next four years she was employed by the Oklahoma City schools as a physical education teacher at Capitol Hill High School, prior to moving to Harrah in 1955. Ruthann and John worked together at the Wilson Funeral Home in Harrah that they established in 1955. They later sold the funeral home to Asa Smith. In addition to assisting her husband with funeral home activities, she and Shirley Thompson established Flowerland Flower Shop across the alley from the funeral home in 1959, serving the community’s floral needs for 40 years retiring in 1999. She provided flowers for funerals, weddings, civic and church functions, and had a loyal band of faithful customers. Flowerland was the center of the social scene in Harrah during their tenure.
Ruthann was active in the Harrah Historical Society. As a member of the Harrah United Methodist Church she sang in choir, taught Sunday School classes and served on several committees. She enjoyed quilting and reading, spreading good cheer, and lending a helping hand wherever needed. Her sweet spirit, kind and loving manner were spread to a wide circle of friends, family, and anyone with whom she associated. She was also a charter member of Epsilon Phi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota teacher sorority.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Ruth Williams, husbands John and A.R. , two brothers, John and Richard Williams and sister Martha Turner.
Survivors include a daughter Susan Rebecca Jones of Edmond; son Mark Alan Wilson and wife Crystal of Oklahoma City; grandchildren John and Larissa Campbell, Sarah and Todd Burkhead, Katie and Tyler Tassone, Reghan Wilson; Great-grandchildren Dakota and Misha Campbell, Kaiden, Aven and Lincoln Burkhead, Devi and Jordan Granec-Boydstun, Abby Sadler, Zach Brodsky, Vincent and Aubrie Tassone, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Asa Smith Funeral Service, 2039 N. Tim Holt Drive in Harrah. Funeral services will be held in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel at the Asa Smith Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, followed by interment in Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah.
