Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ruthmary (White) Farner, age 91 of Cochrane, WI passed away peacefully, her husband of 67 years by her side, on May 24, 2025, at Eagle’s Rest Assisted Living in Pepin, WI. Ruthmary (Ruthie) was born May 5, 1934, in LaCrosse, WI to Russell and Mable (Maier) White. She grew up in Cochrane, WI, where she attended the Cochrane Public School, graduating in 1952. She then attended Winona Business College in Winona, MN. Ruthie married her high school sweetheart, Allen Farner, on August 24, 1957. This union was blessed with 2 daughters, Susan (Dennis) Bechly and Kristine Dehnke and 4 grandchildren, Samantha (Garrett) Dehnke-Turpin, Nicholas (Jessica) Bechly, Jacob Dehnke and Christopher (Jessica) Bechly. In 1979 they moved to Milton Township (between Cochrane and Fountain City). She was employed at the Cochrane State Bank (now Alliance Bank) in Cochrane for 43 years, retiring in 1996 as Vice-President and Head Loan Officer. Working at the bank, Ruthie was known to almost everyone in the community. Ruthie enjoyed bowling and was on a team for many years in leagues in Cochrane and Winona, entering tournaments throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Nevada. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, snowmobiling, traveling with Al and the rest of the family (mostly road trips), and volunteering with the VFW Auxiliary. After retirement, Ruthie and Al continued to travel, including several cruises. She also continued to volunteer at the VFW, and she volunteered at the Ye Old School House Thrift Shop in Buffalo City. Ruthie was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Cochrane, WI. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed, especially by her family. A visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Cochrane on Thursday June 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Buffalo City Cemetery.
