Sally Ann Murphy, age 92 of Gillett, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025. Sally was born on November 19, 1932 to the late Theodore and Blanche Wojciechowski in Milwaukee. In 1975, Sally moved to Cecil and became the owner and host of Murphy's Bar. Getting to see all of her regulars quickly became a highlight for Sally. The bar was known as the "home of the best Friday Fish Fry and flappers" until a fire in 2003 closed the bar. Sally then moved to Gillett and attended St. John Catholic Church. While in Cecil, Sally was very active with the Lioness Club and Legion Auxiliary. She was a green thumb and enjoyed flowers. Sally also enjoyed music, with her taste spanning many genres from big band music to country. She loved watching movies. Some of Sally's favorite memories were her times spent with her grandchildren whom she adored.
Sally is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Maureen) Ryan, Tim Ryan, James Ryan, and Patrick Ryan; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 siblings, Ted, Bernadine, Barry, Anthony, and Paul.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Gillett (108 E. Main Street) from 9 am until the memorial service at 11 am with Father Antonio De Los Santos officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Mary's Hospital and Unity Hospice for the care and compassion offered to Sally during her time of need.
