"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
Sallyann Jones of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the age of 77. She was a devoted Christian, wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Dorothy Helen Reavis and Walter William Kathriner, Sallyann was the youngest of three children. She grew up in a lively household where her brother Frank loved to tease her, filling her childhood with both laughter and mischief. One of their fondest memories was of Sallyann being pulled on a sled through the garden by their horse, Prince.
In her early years, she worked at Grace's Clothing in Pacific, Missouri-always taking her time, much to Frank's impatience as he waited outside to give her a ride home. Though known for her slow and steady pace, no one forgot the day she sprinted through the airport, White Castle in hand, to catch her flight after visiting her sister Joyce.
Her laugh was contagious, and together with her husband, Thomas Took Jones, she shared a love of adventure and an incredible eye for a bargain. Married by a Jamaican woman in a ceremony held in a storage building, they jumped the broom to begin their life together. They didn't build a life around material things but around the true riches of curiosity, companionship, and enduring love.
They were pioneers in their own right-living boldly and chasing new experiences wherever their hearts led them. After welcoming their two sons, they went on to explore the great outdoors through camping trips to Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Laguna Mountains, and Oregon, to name a few. Despite never learning to swim, Sallyann even bravely joined in on white-water rafting adventures.
They moved through several states before settling in California for 20 years, eventually making their way to Arkansas in 1992, where they purchased and ran the Ozark Café for several years.
Sallyann's work ethic and warmth left an impression everywhere she went. She worked her entire life-until March of 2025-and gained lifelong friends along the way. Her resume reflects not just her dedication, but her strength and resilience.
She found joy in life's simplest pleasures-watching cardinals at the bird feeder, reading books by Dr. David Jeremiah, and spending time with loved ones. She was refreshingly honest, never one to sugarcoat-but always offered sincere words of encouragement. Her sense of humor was one of a kind, and she loved a good game of Skip-Bo. Though she claimed not to be much of a cook, her holiday dishes were always a hit and made with love.
Sallyann is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Thomas Jones.
Those left to cherish her precious memory are her faithful dog, Leroy Brown and her bearded dragon Pip. Along with her sons, Mark Jones and Andrew Jones; her siblings, Joyce Dunlap and Frank and Beverly Kathriner; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.
Her memory will be forever honored and cherished. Sallyann will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her journey here has ended, but her story lives on through her family.
In every bird song, every smile, and every quiet moment of grace-Sallyann is with us still, wrapped in everlasting peace and love.
