Sam Hisamoto Jr, age 75, of Rocky Ford, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Colorado Springs. A beloved family member, teacher, and friend, Sam touched the lives of many through his sense of humor.

Born in Denver, in 1950, to Mary (Momoi) Hisamoto and Sam Hisamoto. Sam grew up Ft. Lupton where he played baseball on the JACL (Japanese American Citians' League) baseball team. Sam attended the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Education. He moved to Rocky Ford for his First teaching job where he met his future wife Christi at the Rocky Ford Bowling Alley. He began his teaching career in Rocky Ford, where he taught special education for over 20 years, and was a football and baseball coach. Later, he shifted his focus to adult education, working within the local prison system to teach inmates how to read, write, and master basic math. He also helped many earn their GEDs and worked closely with the community college system to expand access to education system. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coin collecting in his free time, and was known by all the bank tellers in town.

Sam is survived by his son, Arron Hisamoto, and his beloved dog Bella; his brother-in-law, David Furusho; nieces Jennifer Kunugi (husband Scott), Sandra Broderick (husband Greg), and Carrie Ramer (husband Justin); and great-nephews Jonathan and Jacob Broderick. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christi Hisamoto, and his sister, Barbara (Hisamoto) Furusho.
