Samanntha Pugh, 59, of Chancellor, SD passed away July 6, 2025 at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 1st English Lutheran Church in Lennox.
Samanntha Ward was born September 9, 1965 in Charleston, SC to Lynn and Bonnie (Ehrich) Ward. She was raised in Orient, SD and attended school there. On January 2, 1988 she married Douglas Pugh in Webster, SD. She was blessed with 5 children, Jeremiah, Emily, Kathryn, Sarah and Rebecca. Sam worked as a CNA/PCT for many different healthcare facilities including, the Freeman Hospital, Avera GI and Prince of Peace, Sanford and the Lennox Good Samaritan. She also volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels. She truly enjoyed caring for others.
In her free time, Sam spent many hours crocheting booties, hats, clothes and toys for the NICU babies and their families. She also loved to garden and was known to go out thrifting on occasion.
Samanntha is survived by: her husband, Douglas of Chancellor; her children, Jeremiah Ames of Sioux Falls, Emily Powell of Tea, Sarah Pugh of Gainesville, FL and Rebecca (Josh) Karels of Sioux Falls; her grandchildren, Brayden Moulton, Kailynn Powell and Keegan Powel all of Tea; her mother, Bonnie Boyd of Orient, SD; her siblings, Deanna Schaefers of Anchorage, AK, Cecil Boyd of Orient, SD, Gaylen Boyd of Blackhawk, SD, Chris Ward of Omaha, NE and Jerusha Ward of Greenfield, TN. She was preceded in death by her father, her daughter, Kathryn Pugh and a sister, Tara Ward.
