Sandra Folmar Taylor Obituary

Sandy Taylor, at the age of 77, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday July 6, 2025. She transitioned to her Eternal Life peacefully in her home with her family by her side after a 4-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Sandra Sue Folmar, born July 13, 1947, in Winnsboro Texas, leaves a legacy of love and devotion through family and loved ones. She is survived by her son, Scott Hansen and his wife Jo Elda of Kerrville, Texas; and her daughter, Lane and her husband Michael Montgomery of McKinney, Texas; and two beloved grandchildren, Whitney Hansen Godwin of Corpus Christie, Texas and Logan Montgomery of McKinney, Texas; and a dear great-granddaughter, Brantli Godwin. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Folmar and his wife Christine of Winnsboro, Texas.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia, and her father, Noah Folmar, Jr (both in 2021) and her brother, Bobby Folmar (2018). Her family takes great comfort knowing that she is reunited with those that she loved dearly who went before her and those still to come.

She lived with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson for four years after being diagnosed with AML. During that time, she enjoyed shopping with her daughter, listening to audio books, organizing family photos, making birthday cards, talking on the phone with her son every day, and meeting friends for lunch. Whether you knew Sandy for only one month or for over 70 years, she had a way of making you feel truly cherished, seen and loved.

Sandy grew up in a tight knit family unit in the small East Texas town of Winnsboro. Her cousins and siblings were her first best friends. They continued to be her closest friends throughout her life. She often told stories from her youth—like yelling out the window to her Granny who lived across the pasture; she and her brothers swinging on the refrigerator door and accidentally spilling all the jars of fresh cow’s milk onto the kitchen floor, then scrambling to clean it up before Mother got back; getting her knee caught on the barbed wire fence after feeding the pigs and proudly showing the scar to prove it; birthday parties with her cousins; gluing magazine pages to the wall with a flour-and-water paste; being at school the day JFK was assassinated; and driving to Dallas to visit Six Flags Over Texas when it first opened. Family, near and far, was always the central focus of Sandy’s life.

She proudly served her community’s families. She served in the Mother’s Day Out program at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas for 11 years and then at the First Baptist Church in Winnsboro for 9 years. She babysat and worked for numerous families, including the Wilkerson family of Heath, Texas for 10 years and then for the Harrison family of Winnsboro, Texas for 10 years. Sandy had many jobs throughout her life, but caring for children and helping families was her passion. She was a treasured addition to each family that had the privilege of knowing her.

Sandy had many hobbies- from embroidery to sewing wedding dresses and cheerleader uniforms; making “cabbage patch” type dolls in the 1980’s; oil painting; family reunion themed gatherings; making cards and signs for any special occasion; keeping a garden of flowers - being creative and artistic was always a defining characteristic of hers.

Sandy’s life was a demonstration of the Gospel of Jesus through love, kindness and service.

She will be truly missed.
