Sandra Harrod Obituary

Sandra Kay "Sandy" Harrod, 71, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly Wapakoneta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy filled with love, compassion, and devotion as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and lifelong caregiver.

Born on June 21, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, Sandy was the cherished daughter of Alice Kohler and Joseph Schwer. Growing up surrounded by love and the joyous chaos of a large family, Sandy developed strong bonds with her siblings: brothers, Joseph Schwer, Thomas Schwer, and Jeff Schwer, and sisters, Jamie Waterman and Julie Zwiebel. Family gatherings and childhood memories were the foundations on which Sandy built a meaningful and compassionate life. Christmas, in particular, became a cherished holiday during which Sandy's famous "feast" delighted her family and created memories that will be treasured forever. She graduated proudly from St. Joseph High School, where her warmth and kindness were evident even then. Her passion for caring for people in need led her naturally into her life's calling: nursing. A nurse for fifty remarkable years, Sandy dedicated her professional life to offering healing, compassion, and comfort.

On June 20, 1975, Sandy married the love of her life, Dennis L. Harrod, beginning a nearly 50-year partnership built on mutual love and family. Together they created a loving family with three beloved sons: Matthew T. Harrod, Douglas M. Harrod, and Anthony T. Harrod. Her family was the center of her universe, and Sandy took great joy and pride in being an affectionate mother, filling their home with laughter, wisdom, and warmth.

Sandy embraced her role as grandmother wholeheartedly with four grandchildren (Mackenzie, Cameron, Logan and Lucas). She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, nurturing them with the same endless love she shared with her sons.

Sandy is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alice and Joseph, whom she has now joyfully reunited with. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis; three sons, Matthew, Douglas, and Anthony; her daughters-in-law, Kimberly and Shelly, her siblings, Joseph, Thomas, Jamie, Jeff, and Julie; her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cameron, Logan and Lucas and many cherished relatives, and friends. Throughout her life, Sandy touched countless hearts and will be greatly missed.

I remember roller skating with Sandy when we were 6 years old at Janet Engle's house. Sandy didnt change in her looks at all and although I lost all connections with her, her smile brings me back to those long ago times when we didnt have a care in the world. May she rest in peace and may God bring her family comfort and peace. Sincerely, Dolly (Madison) Sharp

I remember when Doug was in grade school along with my daughter Jamie, their soccer team needed a coach. So sandy and I, not knowing the most about soccer stepped up and coached the young ones. We had a great time that spring, and we learned the game along with the kids. Her smile will be missed!!! Judy (Stroh) Lenhart, cousin
