Sandra T. Pollock, 69, of West Windsor, NJ passed away at home on January 10, 2025.
Born in Gulf Port, Mississippi on August 29, 1955, Sandra grew up in Durham, North Carolina, and Alexandria, Virginia. She started her Bachelor of Science at Duke University School of Nursing from 1975-1977. Sandra completed her education at Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980. As a Registered Nurse, she followed her career to the Children's Hospital of Alabama Birmingham; Kindred Healthcare in Lousiville, Kentucky; and CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Throughout her years as a Registered Nurse, her professionalism and compassion brought comfort and light to many.
Sandra had a tremendous zest for life! She excelled as a musician playing the piano, flute, and oboe. As a member of the award winning Fort Hunt High School orchestra, Sandra performed an oboe solo at the Kennedy Center in 1972. Her enthusiasm made her a strong competitor on the tennis court. She played USTA tennis, going to Nationals two years in a row 1995 and 1996.
Sandra was the most attentive mother, and as a single parent, she nurtured and provided a loving and education-enriched life for her boys. Annual summer trips to HHI, South Carolina became a family favorite.
Along with her unceasing care for her family and friends, Sandra enjoyed several interests including water aerobics, cross-stitch, reading, movies, cooking and most earnestly watching college basketball (her spirit will eternally be coaching and cheering on the Duke Blue Devils).
Predeceased by her parents, Robert L. and Betty (Sander) Thompson, Sr. She is survived by her 2 loving sons Robert Pollock and wife Nikki and Ian Pollock; 4 siblings, Laurie Randow, Susan Kurtain and her husband William, Robert L. Thompson, Jr. and his wife Marybeth, and Steven Thompson and partner, Cheryl. She is also survived by 2 wonderful grandchildren, Benjamin and Aiden, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm in the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton, NJ. Words of Remembrance will be spoken at 3:00pm.
Interment will occur privately in the Pardee Memorial Garden in the Princeton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Overlook Foundation- Carol G. Simon Outpatient Cancer Center: https://overlookfoundation.org/donate-now/ in Sandra's name.
