Sanford Stovall, 80, of Hillsboro passed away, Monday June 30, 2025. There will be a family visitation held at Jackson Memory Funeral Home, Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 5:00.
Sanford Otis Stovall was born March 27, 1945, in Trinity, Alabama to Edna Fitzgerald Stovall and Herbert Hoover Stovall. He was the 5th child born to that union. Sanford was known from a young age to all as "Red."
Red was well known for his sense of humor and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was happiest on the farm with his cows or cutting grass. One of his favorite activities was sitting in front of his house, in his truck, and watching the activity on Highway 20. He called that view his "big screen TV." Sanford joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. He was educated at Tennessee Valley High School and Calhoun Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Erma, Herbert, Jennie, Kermit, and Azriel.
Sanford was married to Tyresa Diane Valrie-Stovall, and one child was born of that union, Ingrid Stovall Irvin. He was subsequently married to Minnie Pearl Stovall, and one child was born of that union, Cassandra Stovall Bruce.
He was survived by his dear companion, Janetta Thompson of Hillsboro, his children -Ingrid Stovall Irvin (Raymond) of Sanford, Florida, Christopher Sizemore (Tawana) of Madison, and Cassandra Stovall Bruce of Decatur. He is remembered fondly by his sister Frankie Stovall Bridges of Chandler, Arizona. He was loved by his 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
