Of Rankin, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Born the daughter of the late Aniello Sacramento and the late Margaret (DeAngellis) Sacramento.
Beloved wife of the late Charles "Pat" Simone.
Loving mother of Patti (the late Larry) Connelly of Rankin, Lynn (the late Alan) Smith of Wilmerding, and Charles (Denise) Simone of Robinson Township.
Adored grammy of Christina (John) Hooker, Larry (Carla) Connelly, Charles (Amanda) Simone, Victor (Rebecca Hudek) Simone, Eva (Matt) Stetar, and Josh (Debbie) Smith.
Cherished great grammy of Jonathan and Jacob Hooker, Cooper and Quinn Connelly, and Leo Stetar.
Dear sister of Frank (Charlotte) Sacramento. Preceded in death by her siblings; Anthony (the late Rachel) Sacramento, Joseph (the late Catherine "Teen") Sacramento, Rose Sacramento, and Neal (the late Patricia) Sacramento.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sara was proud to have been born and raised in the town of Braddock, into a family that would soon face the tragedy of losing a mother. Sara, at the age of nine, embraced the role of caregiver with maturity far beyond her years. She cared for her father and siblings with grace and dedication that would define her character for the rest of her life.
Sara's talents in the kitchen were legendary. A gifted cook and baker, she took immense pride in her Italian heritage, which was reflected in the delicious meals and desserts she lovingly prepared. Recipes were not needed, all food and desserts were prepared with a heart full of love for those she was serving. Her homemade apple pie and Italian cookies were just a few of her specialties. Her home was a place of hospitality, with doors always open for Sunday dinners, birthdays, and many holidays, most notably, Christmas Eve, which was her favorite. Sara found joy in shopping for clothes and shoes, and was well known for never leaving the house unless she was dressed to the nines. She also loved listening and dancing to the classics of Frank Sinatra. More than anything, Sara treasured each moment shared with her family. Her greatest gift in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m.
Sara will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
