Sarah Major Heard, age 72, of Cumming, GA., passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at her home. She was a member of Ophir Baptist Church. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Hurchel and Elouise Major; her brothers, Joel and Ricky Major; and her sister, Judy Major.
She was one of the first female members of the Forsyth County Volunteer Fire Department where she proudly served as a first responder fire fighter for many years. She loved gardening, sitting outside on her swing and her family dearly.
Survivors include, her husband, Gary I. Martin; children, Jeremy (Jessica) Heard, Jennifer (Harvey) Hall, Shane (Tanya) Martin, Tonya Martin; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Jannie Major; several nieces, nephews, and in laws.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Martin, Rev. Nicky Gravitt and Rev. Ronnie Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Ophir Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
