Mrs. Sarah Idolene Underwood Moxley, 99, of Buena Vista, passed away peacefully at Magnolia Manor of Marion County on July 2, 2025. Celebration of life services will be held at Oakland Church of God on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 10:00AM with Pastor Josh Carter and her family officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Moxley, Brandon Grier, Shane Grier, Luke Moxley, Cole Grier, and Cody Moxley. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00PM.
Mrs. Moxley was born January 16, 1926, in Swainsboro to Barney and Leola Screws Underwood. She was Homemaker, Mother and Grandmother and a longtime devoted member of Oakland Church of God where she served Christ for many years as well as in her community. Mrs. Moxley enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a deep person of faith and Christ centered in all aspects of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Howard Moxley, a son, Danny Moxley, a daughter, Cheryl Renee Moxley, and a granddaughter, Christa Phillips.
Survivors include her children, Timothy Moxley and his wife, Judy of Canton, GA and Sherry Grier and her husband, Ricky of Buena Vista; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Moxley of Texas; a brother, Larry Underwood and his wife, Lee of Kennesaw, GA; eight grandchildren, Joshua Moxley (Jinger), Carrie Swafford (Jeremy), Katie Manley (Derrick), Brandon Grier (Laurie), Shane Grier (Kari), Alisha Harbuck (David), Cameron Moxley (Rachel), and Mandy Moxley (Morgan); twenty-two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
