Sarah Seaver Zaske Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2025.
Sarah Seaver Zaske, of Sammamish Washington, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, of lung cancer. She was 53 years old.

Sarah was born on March 4, 1971, in Greenwich, CT, the daughter of Nancy McIntyre Seaver and George Thomas Seaver. Sarah graduated from Greenwich High School in 1989. An athlete and natural leader, Sarah was the captain of her high school soccer team in Greenwich as well as an avid skier and formidable tennis player.

Sarah attended Boston College, where she earned a B.A. in Art History in 1993. During her junior year in college, Sarah studied Art History and Italian in Florence further igniting her passion for the arts, travel, music and all things Italian. Following graduation, Sarah first worked for the Russian Youth Orchestra touring with the group throughout the United States and internationally and later worked for Sotheby's in New York. In later years, Sarah also found great joy and meaning in frequently representing the Seaver family at NY Mets events to honor the legacy of her father's Hall of Fame Baseball career.

Forever curious and engaged, Sarah's greatest focus, joy and passion were her husband, Arthur (Art) R. Zaske, whom she married in Vail, Colorado in 1998, and her children. Early in their marriage, the Zaskes lived in California and Connecticut, before moving their young family to Sammamish in 2006. With irrepressible enthusiasm and energy Sarah pursued a wide range of interests including tennis, travel, cooking, needlepoint, genealogy, history and the arts.

Treated for Hodgkins's disease as a teenager, Sarah faced numerous related illnesses and cancers throughout her life, however it did not define her. Sarah will be remembered for her devilish sense of humor, her devotion to her family, her feisty, quick wit, her irrepressible exuberance and for the ferocity with which she faced and overcame each health challenge - and got back to doing the things she loved. Perhaps most of all, Sarah will be remembered for how much she valued her relationships with the people in her life.

Sarah is survived by her husband Art and their three wonderful sons, Thomas, William, and Henry, all of Sammamish, Washington. She is also survived by her mother, Nancy and sister Anne of Calistoga, California as well as a large, loving extended family, and countless dear friends all over the world.

A private service will be held in Seattle on March 29th. Those wishing to honor Sarah are asked to consider a donation to: https://give.swedishfoundation.org/cancer
