Sarah Ellen Yates Thornton, age 70 of Elmer, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Christus St, Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Edward Thornton; her 3 unborn grandchildren; her parents, Albert Robert Yates and Maggie Ellen Walker Yates; and her siblings.
Sarah is survived by her son, Jared Thornton (Amanda); her daughter, Tracy Weaver; her grandchildren, Bode Weaver, Isabel Thornton, Luke Thornton, and Doris Thornton; her dedicated fur baby, Barney; other family and friends.
Sarah was a retired human resources director. She earned her Bachelor's Degree of Psychology from the University of Phoenix and both of her Master's Degrees in Psychology and Human resources from Western Governors University. Sarah along with her husband, Bruce spent most of their years in the Springhill community where they owned and operated Snow Daddy's Snow Cones and Fireworks and were known by all as "Snow Daddy and "Snow Mama". Sarah was an amazing cook, who was an accomplished pianist and organist who played both in church. Above all, her passion in life was adoring her grandchildren and spending quality time with her family and friends. A wonderful mother grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thankyou to the compassionate staff of Cabrini Hospital ICU and to Brother Brandon Smith of Dixie Baptist Church for their kindness and care.
