Sharon Blasky Obituary

Published by Legacy from Jul. 21 to Jul. 22, 2025.
Sharon L. Blasky, age 73, of Lafayette, Indiana, and formerly of Remington, passed away on July 20, 2025. She was born on October 24, 1951, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Guy and Nada (Taylor) Robinson. Sharon graduated from Lake Central High School and earned her degree from Purdue University. On August 26, 1972, she married the love of her life, Robert A. "Bob" Blasky, in St. John, Indiana. They shared over 50 wonderful years together before his passing in 2023. Sharon began her career teaching mathematics for three years before she and Bob settled in Remington. She went on to dedicate over two decades of service to the Purdue Cooperative Extension in Jasper County, working as an Extension Educator in 4-H Youth Development from 1992 until 2014. Sharon was deeply passionate about youth education and community development, and her work left a lasting impact on many. A faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Sharon served as a lector and was active with the St. Augustine Christian Women, where she held the role of Treasurer and assisted with countless funeral dinners. She also served as a St. Joseph College Fellow, was a member of the JC Livestock Auction and Jasper County Fair Association from 1988 to 2014, later joining the executive board as Treasurer following her retirement. Sharon was also involved with the Women of the Moose, the Indiana State Teachers Association, IETA, and the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals, where she served as president and chaired member recognition. Sharon had a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Eileen (Scott) Cochran of Lafayette, IN, Katherine (Justin) Baker of Cumming, GA, and Andrew (Jennifer) Blasky of Lafayette, IN; her cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Lizzie, Mason, Drew, and Zoe; siblings, Mary Jo (Dave) Stanley and Doug (Jeanne) Robinson; aunt, Sandy Trueblood; and in-laws, Donna (Carl) Laib, Debra Meyers, Mary Szymanski, and Tom (Karen) Blasky, Aunt Marge Schweisthad. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Emily, and sister, Pam Watson. Per her wishes, private services will be held. Jackson Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Jasper County 4-H Association or St. Augustine Catholic Church.
