Sharon Ann Byrd, age 72, of Eden, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025 at her dream home with her loving husband at her bedside.
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on August 24, 1952, Sharon was a devoted wife of 54 years, a mother, and a friend of many. She loved God and was a Sunday school teacher early on. Sharon was known by all as a loving, caring, selfless individual that presented an unwavering kindness towards all no matter who you were or where you came from. Sharon always gave positive thoughts in all matters and could see the good in all. Sharon dedicated her life to her husband and two children. She held many careers over her lifetime, but most of all she enjoyed people and caregiving. Such as her love for children, she worked at Tommy Tucker in Parsonsburg until moving to Crisfield in 1985 and then took on the role of teaching at Head Start in Crisfield. Eventually, Sharon embraced the challenges of caretaking at McCready Nursing Home where she met many wonderful individuals and made some really close friends that lasted for years after. Sharon found herself wanting to do more; she became a caregiver in Hospice until she was no longer able to provide her services and retired.
Sharon Ann Byrd is survived by her loving husband, Richard I. Byrd; two sons, John R. Byrd and Rick Byrd; daughter-in-law, Alisha Oates; five grandchildren, Evan Byrd, Kayla Oates, Brian Yount, Payton Oates, and Chloe Oates; two great-grandchildren, Jayce Byrd and Evan Byrd, Jr.; and step-brother, Joe Baxter. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Wanita Baxter; father, Sam Baxter Sr; and brothers, 'Butchy" Baxter, Clearance Baxter, and Sam Baxter, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on July 19, 2025, at 10:00, Holloway Funeral Home 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury MD. Flowers for the family or service can be sent to this location.
