Sharon Jeanne Anderson McCann passed away on June 5, 2025 in League City, Texas at the age of 85. Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Douglas McCann in August of 2024. They shared 47 years of marriage together.
Sharon was born February 16, 1940 to Odis Weldon Anderson and Sibyl Vosburg Anderson in Hubbard, Texas. Sharon's mother, Sibyl, passed away in 1942. Sharon was blessed to have gained Dorothy Garrett Anderson as her mother, whom she loved dearly.
Sharon graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Business/Education. She worked in banking for many years, serving several of those years as Vice-President. Sharon became a Realtor after leaving the banking industry and continued this career until retirement.
Sharon was committed to public service. She served her community on numerous committees. Sharon was a city council member for Webster, Texas. She was a Texas Municipal League board member and chaired the Bay Area Council of Cities. She enjoyed a multitude of activities and was always up for an adventure. Sharon earned her pilot's license. She was an accomplished bridge player, bowler, and horseback rider. Sharon loved volunteering for many organizations, especially the USO. Sharon was known for her enthusiasm, commitment, and kindness. Her friends and co-workers would often say she was the best friend a person could ever wish for.
Sharon was a long time member of Webster Presbyterian Church. The family sincerely thanks the members of her church family who provided support and care throughout her illness.
Sharon is mourned by her children Stephanie Barnett, Stacie and husband, Scott Bemis, Peter and wife, Susan McCann, Madeline McCann Lang, James Andrew and wife, Debra McCann and her grandchildren, Meagan and husband, Eric Allen, Chase Bemis, Tristyn and wife, Sarah Bemis, Heather and husband, David Guy, Devin McCann, and Andrew McCann. Sharon is also survived by three great grandchildren Joe, Tyler and Macy Allen and her siblings, Odis Dean and wife, Carolyn Anderson, Jimmy and wife, Cathy Anderson, Nancy Smith, sister-in-law Donna Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was predeceased by her first husband Paul Barnett, her parents, her brother Scott Anderson, her brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Smith and her nephews Bryan Anderson and Dale Raburn.
The family would like to thank The Delaney at South Shore Harbour Memory Care Team and Magnolia Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11 am at Wade Funeral Home, 201 NW 3rd St, Hubbard, Texas 76648. A reception will follow at the Historic Hubbard High School Savage Room at 300 NW 6th St, Hubbard, Texas, 76648.
