The memorial service for Sharon L. Sly, 89, of Siloam Springs, AR, who died on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Regency Hospital, Springdale, AR, will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at First Church in Siloam Springs, AR.
She was born on February 2, 1935, to Dana and Doris Hobson, in rural Baldwin City, KS. She grew up in the rural Baldwin City area and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1952. She worked as a secretary, executive secretary, and bank vice president in California, Kansas, and Alaska. She retired in 1984 to the family farm.
She was married to Gene Atwood and two children were born. After the demise of the marriage, she married Jack Sly of Berkley, CA. They lived in Pleasanton, CA, Sitka, AK, and Baldwin City, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 2002. She then relocated to Siloam Springs, AR, area in 2003 until her death.
Survivors include her son, Michael Atwood and wife Donna of Franklin, TN, daughters, Glenda Endris of Siloam Springs, AR, Jacalyn Bertram and husband Dan of Douglas, WY, and Judy Stoeffels of Sonora, CA, and son, James H. Sly of Douglas, WY. She is also survived by her brother, Dana "Woody" Hobson, Jr. and wife Kimbri of Perry, Ok, and 4 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Sharon was an avid gardener, avid speed-reader, an avid Kansas Jayhawk Basketball fan, and loved to travel with her Siloam Springs friends. During her time in Siloam Springs, Sharon began volunteering with the Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary and she soon joined the Arkansas State Auxiliary organization. She soon served in an official role and rose to President of the Arkansas State Hospital Auxiliary. "That was my greatest accomplishment," she said.
Memorials can be made to the Friends of the Siloam Springs Library in Sharon's memory.
