Sharon M. Sonnacchio passed away at home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
She was born on July 28, 1941, to the late Harold and Helen (Hulbert) Snyder.
Sharon worked as a licensed practical nurse at Crouse Hospital for 33 years. For eight of those years, she was a part of the I.V. team. After her retirement from Crouse, Sharon went on to be a BOCES instructor for the CNA program and was a substitute nurse for various Oswego County schools.
Some of her enjoyments in life were participating in triathlons, running 5K and 10K races, running with her grandchildren, painting, spending time in her flower garden, going to church, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would always walk at least five miles a day.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is predeceased by her husband, Gennaro Sr., her son, Gennaro Jr. ("Geno"); and her brother, Dennis Snyder.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis (Maxine Skilinski) Sonnacchio, and Peter (Debra) Sonnacchio; grandchildren, Alicia, Anthony, Peter Jr., Marissa, Andrea, Angela, Kendra, and Mikaylea; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Laraine Putnam; brothers, Lawrence "Corky" Snyder and Michael Snyder; along with several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, July 18, from 4:00pm -6:00pm at Watson Funeral Home in Central Square, NY.
A funeral mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish in Central Square, NY, on Saturday, July 19, at 9:30am.
A graveside service will follow immediately after.

"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though she knows that you are slightly cracked." ~ Meltzer

I've been so blessed to have Sharon as a mentor and friend. From the start of my nursing career, trips down the Independence River (literally saving my life), miles on foot/bike, swims, diets, like the eggs and zucchini weight loss plan, exchanging footware (sizes apart), birth of my children, a"nonsmoking" cruise (when she couldn't tell me ... she slipped), and so much more. Sharon was a friend like no other. More beautiful than her Lladros.

To Dennis & Pete, spouses, grands and greats ... all family and friends ... We are all better people, having had this angel in our life.
