I, Sharon K Weyland, age 79, of Vernal, passed away February 24, 2025, at the Beehive Home in Vernal.

I was born on May 20, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Michael George and Bertha Kowallis Error. Growing up on Windsor Street in a quiet home, my parents became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I was sealed to them as a little girl. Later, I was blessed with three siblings: Michael Error, Steven Error, and Marie Error Decker. I recall, while growing up, many trips to the mountains above Salt Lake City.

My parents raised me with a strong sense of tradition, but I always longed for something more. I attended Stanford University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in English from 1963 to 1969. Afterward, I eloped with Larry Duane Mitchell to Ely, NV, and we began our journey together. We later moved to Alaska, where I loved the outdoors and aviation. There, our first son, James Devin Mitchell, was born. Eventually, through turmoil, we returned to Utah, where Kyle David Mitchell and Quinn Deon Mitchell completed our family.

As my children grew, I pursued further education at Utah State University, earning my Master's in Psychology in 1992. I spent most of my life teaching in various capacities, from Altamont to the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center and Utah State Uintah Basin. Teaching was one of the great joys of my life, and it was a privilege to help shape young minds. I believed in both formal education and the everyday lessons taught in small, meaningful moments. I mentored many youths, developing educational programs that could touch their lives long after they left my classroom.

My mind was keen, and I took pride in articulating my thoughts with clarity and purpose. I was driven by integrity; standing up for what I believed in was important to me, and I was especially sensitive to helping the underdog. It gave me great joy to lend a hand to those who needed it most. I worked hard, and it was through my work and service that I felt my purpose was fulfilled.

Life took me on many paths, and though Kyle passed away too young, I found great joy in the expanded family I gained from Larry's first marriage, including Andy, Leann, Karen, and Shona. Years later, after Quinn was grown, I married Michael Weyland. We shared a passion for adventure, operating a business in Vernal, Atlantis Divers, together and traveling to many beautiful places to scuba dive and spearfish. I cared for Mike through his health decline and death on February 17, 2017. I was sealed to him posthumously, and our love and shared memories will forever hold a special place in my heart.

For the last 41 years, I have lived in Upalco and Vernal, where I was active in church. I served with great love, including spending five years at the Vernal Temple and as a family history consultant. I found joy in many forms of creative expression, particularly through art. I loved painting, drawing, writing, and calligraphy. My artwork brought me peace and served as a reflection of my inner thoughts.

My last farewell will be on March 15, 2025, with a viewing from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM at the Maeser Stake Center, 2745 W 1000 N, Vernal, UT. My interment will follow at the Roosevelt Memorial Park in Roosevelt, Utah.

Thank you to all my family, friends, and loved ones who have supported me throughout my life. I will forever cherish the memories we created together.
