Sheila Coleman Clift, age 71, of Sylacauga, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, following a brief and sudden illness.
Sheila was born on February 10, 1954, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to Joseph and Ruby Coleman. After losing both parents early in life, Sheila and her sister, Brenda, were raised with love and strength by their maternal grandmother, Bessie Douglas.
Sheila was a 1972 graduate of Sylacauga High School and went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her career began in medical records and later transitioned to accounting at Boyce Machinery in La Place, Louisiana. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lloyd Clift. Together, they built both a life and a business, founding Clift Equipment. Sheila and Lloyd were married on December 4, 1981, in Gonzalez, Louisiana where they built their life and shared a devoted marriage until Lloyd's passing on September 10, 2014.
Sheila had a deep love for animals, especially her cherished Australian Shepherds, Chloe and Katie, who now greet her in heaven.
Sheila is survived by her sister, Brenda Payne, and Brenda's husband, Jeff Payne. She was a devoted and loving aunt to Courtney Copeland (Jordan) of Pensacola, FL; Lauren Reeves (Corey) of Jay, FL; and Anna Catherine Kennedy (Devin) of Kingsland, GA. She also cherished her role as a great-aunt to Corey (9), Caroline (7), Luke (4), and Lane Reeves (2 months), as well as Emma Kennedy (3) and Owen Kennedy (4 months), who brought immense joy to her life.
Sheila will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast resilience, and the unconditional love she gave to her family.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sheila's memory to a local animal rescue or shelter of your choice.
