Sheila Faye Puckett Edelman, 90, of Sayre, Oklahoma, was born on March 5, 1935, in Pocasset, Oklahoma to Dan and Faye Edelman. Sheila looked upon the face of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 11, 2025, in Marshall, Michigan.
Sheila spent her early life moving often with her family as they followed her father's work. In 1949, the family settled in Elk City, Oklahoma, where Sheila met Bill Hargrove, an Air Force soldier. The two married in 1951 and had four children together: Mike, Kathy, Danny, and Tana – along with a shared loved of horse racing.
Following her separation from Bill, Sheila moved to Sayre, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, Bert Puckett. When her grandchildren asked why she and Bert never married, she would smile and say, "We're perfectly fine the way it is."
Sheila worked in customer service until the age of 74, when she retired to help raise her great grandson, Colter Lee. She enjoyed fishing, visiting the horse races, and cross-stitching beautiful works of art. More than anything, Sheila loved her family. Her heart was always full, and her love knew no conditions. Sheila's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Sayre, Oklahoma. Rebekah Harrell will officiate. Interment will be at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is two sons, Mike Hargrove and his wife, Sansi of Marshall, Michigan, Danny Hargrove and his wife, Cheri of Howell, Michigan; one sister, Danett of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; one brother, David of California; sixteen grandchildren, Kali and her husband Arthur of Marshall, Michigan, Lucas and his wife, Tina of Duncan, Oklahoma, Rachel, Billy, Carmen, Gerald, CiCi, Kelsey, Marc, Andy, Gilbert, Roel, Cameron, and Roman all of Howell, Michigan, Jessie and his wife, Candies of Antlers, Oklahoma, Rebekah and her husband, Don of Sayre, Oklahoma; twenty-nine great grandchildren, including her beloved Colter Lee; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Sheila is preceded in death by her husband all of three months, Bert Puckett; her parents, Dan and Faye Edelman; two daughters, Kathy and Tana; one grandson, Zac; one sister, Cheryl; and one brother, Buddy.
