WADESBORO – On Monday, July 7, 2025, Mrs. Sherry Ann Rushing Gaddy, 65, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Anson in Wadesboro, North Carolina, surrounded by love.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Caulder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on December 28, 1959, in Union County, NC, Sherry was the daughter of Bertha Jean Treadaway Rushing and the late William “Bill” Rushing. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church, a woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength. In her professional life, Sherri worked as the manager of a self-storage company in Wadesboro, but her talents extended far beyond. She spent many years in new construction and residential painting, a craft she approached with unmatched dedication and care. Those who knew her saw how her hands could transform empty spaces into homes, always with beauty and heart.
She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Dan Gaddy of Wadesboro; her devoted mother, Jean Rushing, also of Wadesboro; her daughter, Natasha Glezman of Michigan and Natasha’s spouse, Thomas Stebbins; her cherished grandchildren, L. Richard and Coby; her step-daughters, Brittanie Gaddy and Stephanie Gaddy; and her step-grandchildren, Bentley, Walker, Haven, Dakotah, Dominic, Devin, and Damien. She was a phenomenal Grandma Fruit Loop
In addition to her father, Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ricky Glezman, and her brother, Billy Rushing.
Sherry found joy in simple pleasures—playing online bingo and casino games, sharing laughs over the phone, and offering gentle wisdom to those she loved. But more than anything, she will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her unwavering loyalty to her family, and the quiet way she made everyone around her feel safe and seen. To be loved by Sherry was to be truly held.
Her legacy is etched into every room she painted, every heart she comforted, and every memory her loved ones carry forward. She will be missed beyond measure—but her spirit lives on in those who were fortunate to be part of her world.
