Shirley Ann Carson, 92 of Solon, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Solon Care Center of Congestive Heart Failure. Private family graveside services will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, with Father Charles Fladung presiding. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025 beginning at 9:30 a.m., with funeral mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon. Brosh Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Per Shirley's wishes, the casket will be closed.
Shirley was born January 18, 1933, in Ti n, the daughter of Edward and Viola Hurt. She graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Russell C. Carson on August 25, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City. Shirley farmed in the Solon area for over 50 years with her husband, Russell. Shirley loved her country life before moving to Solon in 2014.
Shirley is survived by her children; Jean Wilson (Steve) of Iowa City, Terry Carson (Cindy) of Fairfax, and Cindy Walker (Craig) of West Branch; grandchildren, Andy Wilson (Annie), Mike Crow (Shelly), Jeremy Crow, Todd Walker (Jennifer), Lee Nearad, and Amanda Pitts (Justin); and great-grandchildren, Jocelynn Morgan, Avery and Brody Wilson, Caleb Crow, Tatum Burnhardt, Bella Nearad, Zachary Walker, Bailey Boelk (Carver), Carson and Emilia Pitts. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Polman.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Russell in 2020; her parents, sister, Marilyn Hedges, and granddaughter, Jamie Wilson.
Shirley's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Solon Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Shirley during her stay.
Memorials may be made to the Shirley Carson Memorial Fund.
