Shirley Drury Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 9, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Drury, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed from this world on January 25, 2026, at the age of 90. Shirley was born on November 6, 1935, in Bristol, Tennessee, and later made her home in Hamilton, Ohio.

Shirley dedicated her working life to the Fairfield High School cafeteria as a deli worker, where she served nourishing meals that brought joy to many students. Her culinary talents were unmatched, often exemplified by her delightful homemade vegetable soup and comforting chicken and dumplings. Family gatherings around her table were a highlight for all, and she fostered a warmth that welcomed everyone into her home.

A lover of life's simple pleasures, Shirley enjoyed gambling and often visited local casinos, where she found excitement and thrills. She formed beautiful memories traveling to Florida with her daughter, Deborah, and cherished moments visiting family back in Bristol. Shirley shared a special bond with her siblings, Annalee, Joyce, and Wilma, who were a source of joy throughout her life.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Deborah Christophel and Teresa Elrod, and her beloved grandchild, Josh Elrod, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Shirley met her dear companion, Jerry, at the local VFW, and together they created many joyful moments that enriched her later years.

In honor of her life, the family will hold a memorial service at a later time, where friends and loved ones will be invited to pay their respects and celebrate Shirley's legacy.

Shirley Mae Drury will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mamie Rogers, her husbands, James Eastridge and Alvin Drury, her siblings, Annalee O'Neal, Joyce Skalley and Earl Rogers, her son in law, Carl Christophel, and her grandsons, Jason and Kyle Christophel.
