Shirley Lewis Obituary

Shirley Jean Lewis, a beloved member of the Richlands community, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 19, 1936, in Richlands, North Carolina, she remained a cherished resident of her hometown throughout her life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Catherine Lake Baptist Church. Visitation will take place at the church an hour prior, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow.
Shirley was the devoted daughter of the late Levi John Blizzard and Susan Jane Coston Blizzard. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leno Bryant Lewis Sr., whom she married in 1956, and their dear son, Thomas Allen Lewis.
She is survived by her son, Leno Bryant Lewis Jr., and his wife, Diane; her brothers, Roy Blizzard, Allen Blizzard, and Jimmy Blizzard; her sister, Frances Ashlock; her grandchildren, David Lewis and Charlene Boney; and her great-grandchildren, Cadence Ledet and Skylar Lewis. Shirley's legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on through her family and friends.
A dedicated homemaker, Shirley found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her family and home. Her life was centered around her faith and her church community. As a lifelong member of Catherine Lake Baptist Church, Shirley attended services faithfully for over 80 years. Her commitment to her church extended beyond attendance; she served as a historian for the church, preserving its rich history for future generations. Shirley was also known for her creative spirit, often expressing herself through poetry and short stories. Shirley was a people person who loved engaging with others and sharing her warmth and kindness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith were evident to all who knew her.
