Shirley Ann Shaddox, age 77, of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Hospice of the Hills hospice house in Harrison.
She was born on June 26, 1947, at Harrison to George Houston and Joy Ruff Rice Brewer. A creative soul with a kind heart, Shirley found great joy in quilt making, painting, and especially in sewing - a craft she loved dearly. Her talents and warm presence touched all who knew her. A devoted member of Grubb Springs Baptist Church for many years, Shirley's faith was a guiding light in her life. Shirley will be remembered for her love of family, her creativity, and her quiet strength. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Melvin Shaddox.
Shirley is survived by her loving children: one daughter, Stephanie Welch of Harrison; two sons, Justin (Courtney) Shaddox and Robert Shaddox, both of Harrison; nine cherished grandchildren, Colby (Daniella) Welch of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, Silas Welch of Harrison, Taylor Linahan of Long Beach, California, Jayce Linahan of Arlington, Texas, and Quincy, Bailey, McKenzie, Asher, and Jeremiah Shaddox, all of Harrison; five great-grandchildren, Sammy and Elaina Welch of Pleasant Hope, Eli Rangle of Arlington, and Sophia and Forest Shaddox of Harrison; and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service to honor Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Shaddox Cemetery in Newton County with Bro. Jimmy Dale Husky officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Colby, Silas, and Chris Welch, Jason Willey, Jim Reed, and Kevin Shaddox.
