Sibilla Almanzar was welcomed into the loving arms of our Savior after a brief illness that too suddenly claimed her earthly life. God knows the plans he had for her and she faithfully and capably fulfilled His design for her life as a humble and faithful servant.
Sibilla was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and worked as a nurse practitioner before she met Li Almanzar and moved to Little Rock, AFB in 1975, with his daughter, Mary.
She loved it there and spoke frequently of wishing to return. After Li retired, they moved to Las Vegas, N.M. and divorced after almost 10 years. She was very busy serving her community in many different capacities. Initially, Sibilla baked pies, eclairs, and cakes for the Plaza Hotel and Charlie's Spic and Span Bakery. She then she ran a dry cleaning business for about 10 years. After that, she became a very highly valued bookkeeper at Price's Home Furnishings for about 20 years. Whenever you had an encounter with her, you knew she cared about her work and about the person. She was a superb homemaker, beautiful seamstress and was blessed with the gift of hospitality.
Sibilla was known for her grace, attention to detail, big grinning smile, and the way she made those whom she encountered feel valued. She loved her cats and had a very strong affection for animals in general. Those who have been the recipients of Sibilla's affection and thoughtful, honest conversations know what a tremendous blessing they've been granted. Sibilla remained in close contact with her lifetime friends living in Germany: Ulla, and Gisela, and with her sister, Henni.
Sibilla would not want a big fuss made about her passing. But, to remember her big wide grin and loving hugs would please her greatly. When she told you she loved you, you knew she meant it.
Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Heart of David Worship Center on 333 Peggy Lane, Las Vegas, N.M., with a reception to follow.
