Jetmore – Skyler Wirt Hayes, 73, passed away June 11, 2025 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
He was born May 19, 1952 in Dodge City, the son of Wirt Dawson and Marjorie Dale Hermon Hayes. A lifetime area resident, he was a retired Safety Director at Pride Ag Resources.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jetmore, Hodgeman County Extension Council, honorary member of the Haun Museum Board and a past member of the Carnegie Center for the Arts. He enjoyed drawing, painting, freeze drying candy, gardening, working crossword puzzles, riding his bike and exercising.
On October 4, 1996, he married Kelly Rae Mack in Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Kyle (Jo'beth) Hayes, Jetmore; daughter, Rachel (Daniel DeKraai) Hayes, Kansas City, MO; sister, Adree (Tony) Jones, Dodge City; brother, Randy (Barbara) Slagle, Ness City; two grandchildren, Kennedy and John Hayes and three grand dogs, Remington, Maya Mae and Neil Beef.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial graveside will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with Father John Forkuoh presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore.
Memorials may be given to Hodgeman County EMS in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, Box 663 Jetmore, KS 67854.
