She was born in Hepler on August 24, 1942 to John and Doris (King) Anderson. Sonja attended school in Hepler, graduating in 1960 from Stark High School after the consolidation of the Hepler, Walnut, and Stark schools.
On December 25, 1960, Sonja and Robert J. (Bob) Tersinar of Farlington, KS were married in the Hepler Christian Church. Robert preceded Sonja in death on December 20, 2022.
Sonja worked as a proofreader at FMI and Livingston Laser Graphics in Girard and Ennis Printing in Fort Scott.
She enjoyed her family, bowling, traveling, and the mountains. She was also an avid Nascar fan.
Survivors are her sons, Jeffrey (Karla) Tersinar of Hepler and Gary (Debbie) Tersinar of Mounds, OK, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her brother, Phillip (Shirley) Anderson of Heavener, OK.
Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Anderson of Hepler, a nephew, Todd Anderson, of Colorado, her grandparents, and her in-laws, August and Ruth Tersinar of Farlington.
Memorial visitation will be from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
Memorials are suggested to the Hepler Library and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.

We send our deepest condolences to Jeff, Gary and families. Sonja had been a friend since childhood and later in life a confidant. Will miss her smile and chatter. Love to all from David & Norma Lee Bird of Ottawa.
