Sonya S. (Grammar) Elder, age 89 of Coldwater formerly of Englewood, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Briarwood Village in Coldwater. She was born on November 17, 1935 to the late Thomas and Esther (Wolf) Grammar. On September 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Elder who passed away on September 24, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Knapke of Celina, grandchildren, Katie (Tommy) Seiler of Powell, Tracie (Alex) Adams of Lewis Center, Brock (Caroline) Elder of Anderson, South Carolina and Grant (Gabby) Elder of Glenn Ridge New Jersey.
In addition to her Parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Craig Elder and her son in law Nick Knapke.
Sonya graduated from Trotwood Madison High School with the class of 1953. She worked and retired from the City of Dayton Public Schools as secretary. She loved gardening, quilting, and embroidering.
A private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be interred with her husband at Ehrstine Cemetery in Trotwood, Ohio. Condolences may be shared with the Elder family on-line at LehmanDzendzelFH.com.
