Sonya Stutzman, age 62, passed away on June 7, 2025 having fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully in her home while surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 6, 1962, she is the daughter of Faun and the late Kue Brand. She is preceded in death by her father Kue as well as her mother and father-in-law Henry and Katie Stutzman. She is survived by her husband Robert and her mother Faun, as well as her children Eric (Kisha) Stutzman, Jena (Cole) Miller, and Cameron Stutzman; her grandchildren Brayson and Maddox Stutzman, and Harper, Hudson, and Cooper Miller; and
her brothers Joe (Mel) Brand and Rick (Peg) Brand.
A 1980 graduate of Hiland High School, Sonya married the love of her life, Robert Stutzman on July 16, 1983. She lived a full and generous life and was fiercely devoted to her family. She loved attending the sporting events and school activities of her children and grandchildren as well as taking family vacations to the beach. Garden City, South Carolina was her favorite destination. Sonya's family would describe her as selfless, always willing to drop everything to make herself available or help with her grandchildren-they were her world.
Sonya regularly opened her home for her children's friends, many of whom would describe her as their second Mom. Many will also remember her for being a beautician in Berlin, a profession she held her entire adult life. Additionally, Sonya spent countless hours volunteering at Hiland where she made meals and served in the hospitality room for sporting events, or at the Holmes County Fair where she volunteered in the Home Arts
department.
Sonya lived her life rooted in her faith in Jesus, which carried her through both joyful and challenging times. Her unwavering trust in God shaped how she loved and served those around her.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berlin Mennonite Church. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at Berlin Mennonite Church.
