Stephanie Jo Price, age 78, passed away on Friday July 11, 2025 in Eden, Texas. A graveside service will be held on August 8, 2025, 10 am at Rocky Creek Baptist Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas.
Stephanie Jo Wallace was born on September 17, 1946 in Eastland, Texas. Her family moved to New Mexico when she was twelve and she went to school in Carlsbad, NM graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1965. She attended college at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM earning a Bachelor's Degree in Government and a minor in Philosophy in 1985. She then returned to Carlsbad and worked at NMSU-Carlsbad for a few years before going to work for the New Mexico Corrections Department. There she excelled as a Probation/Parole Officer/Counselor from 1987 until she left in 2003. She moved to Brownwood, Texas shortly thereafter where she went to work for the Pecan Valley Domestic Violence Shelter.
Stephanie was a born volunteer and advocate for the less fortunate, abused and needy. She volunteered at Good Samaritan Ministries, Brownwood Regional Medical Center, served in Soup kitchens and battered women's shelters. She also volunteered for many projects at her church, Union Presbyterian. Stephanie was also a faithful health participant, being a part of the "Pilates Group" for over 20 years. She enjoyed making candles and lotions and even had her own business, "Texas Naturally" for many years. She had a green thumb and could grow anything; crocheted, enjoyed cooking and inventing her own recipes. She was also a superb Scrabble opponent, seldom outplayed; to her family's knowledge.
Stephanie is survived by her brother, William B (Bill) Wallace of Brownwood, Texas and sister, Suzanne Wells Nesbit and husband Dale of Carlsbad, NM. She is also survived by 5 nephews and 3 nieces, many great nieces and nephews, and a few Texas cousins and numerous Yankee cousins. She also leaves behind her dear friends and pastor at Union Presbyterian who faithfully cared for her for many years. Also, her friends in her Pilates Group.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew J Wallace and Ruth Fowler Wallace; Sisters Pamela L Magby, Paula K Figueroa and Diana Walker.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Good Samaritan Ministries in Brownwood, Texas.
