Stephen William Findlay, 81, of Sarasota, Florida died peacefully on June 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born on July 29, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Edison Junior High School before going into electrical trade. Steve was an electrical contractor in Maplewood, New Jersey before advancing his career to medical construction design. He owned a business in Union, New Jersey before opening an office in Sarasota, Florida. Steve was an amazing family man. A loving husband, father, poppie, brother, uncle and friend. He was hard working, funny, patriotic and had strong beliefs in his faith. He had a passion for baseball and playing center field. He attended numerous year of Dodgertown Baseball Camps in Vero Beach, FL where he met and made many life long friends. He also loved golf and tennis. He loved music and playing his guitars. He was devoted to supporting his grandchildren in various activities and sports. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Geraldine, his children Renee Findlay, Christine Hawke and husband Jess, Stephen Findlay Jr. and wife Leticia. His grandchildren, Reed, Shae, Harris, Cameron & Noah. He is survived by brothers Matthew and Kenneth and sisters Claire and Kathy and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by parents Matthew and Ethel, sisters Carol & Janet, and also his special uncle and namesake, Father Stephen W. Findlay, once headmaster of Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey. There will be a funeral service on July 16, 2025 at 11:00 am.Church of St Patrick 7900 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota, FL In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Stephen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
