Steven Wayne Holder was a lifetime resident of Wichita County, Texas. He was born on September 19, 1952, in Wichita Falls to Edward (E.C.) Holder and Dorothy Holder of Iowa Park. He passed away on May 19, 2025 at the age of 72.
Steve was one of nine siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by four sisters, two brothers, his daughter Ashley and her husband Clay Dolch, and his long-time partner, Ann Taylor.
Steve grew up in Iowa Park and graduated from Iowa Park High School, where he was very active in the FFA. He continued his education at Cisco Junior College and East Central A&M University earning his bachelor degree in the Agricultural Sciences. He retired from the City of Wichita Falls Water Department.
Steve was very invested in his native heritage. He was born with Cherokee ancestry, but was later adopted into the Kiowa Tribe in Oklahoma. He regularly attended POW WOWs and participated in tribal dances and celebrations.
Steve was of the Jewish Faith. He was a member of the House of Jacob Synagogue in Wichita Falls.
Steve was a unique individual and probably never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Family visitation will be at 5 pm on Wednesday, May 21 at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, Oklahoma and graveside services will be at 1 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park, TX.
