Steven was born on April 17th, 1966, to Glenn Doyle and Patricia McCune in Lawton, Oklahoma. Steven graduated from Lawton High School in 1984. He graduated from Cameron University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice on May 19th, 1989.

He reported for Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, just three days after graduating from high school in 1984. He began his career in the U.S. Army Reserves as a mortarman and later became a Drill Sergeant stationed at Fort Sill. As a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he was activated for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, serving in the 1st Infantry Division during the Gulf War.

In 1991, after his time in the U.S. Army Infantry, Steven enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from Boot Camp as a Private First Class, he then attended The School of Infantry at Marine Base Camp Pendleton in California for training as a Marine Corps Rifleman where was selected for a tour of duty at "8th and I" in Washington, D.C., where he served as a member of Bravo Company for two years conducting ceremonies and burials.

After his time at The Marine Corps Barracks, he received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, Charlie Company, where he served as an Infantry squad leader. In October 1993, Steven deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia, as part of the 13th MEU in support of Operation Gothic Serpent. He operated alongside U.S. Navy SEAL sniper teams and U.S. Army Rangers.

Shortly after returning home from his deployment to Somalia, Steve married his wife Lisa on March 13th, 1994, at the Trinity Christian Church in Artesia, California. Steve and Lisa made their home in Orange, California. They welcomed their first child, their son Chad in November of 1996, followed by their lovely daughter Tiffany in September of 1998. He began working for National CineMedia as an IT Technician in 1999.

Steve enjoyed trips back to Oklahoma every year to visit family and go to OU football games, as well as visiting the family cabin in Big Bear, California. In 2004, he survived a bout with cancer. He enjoyed coaching and watching both of his children play sports. He was proud to attend his daughter's college graduation from Oklahoma Christian University and was anxiously anticipating his son's eventual graduation from the University of Oklahoma.
