A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville for Steven Ortego, 75, who passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Courtyard Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.
A visiting hour will be observed at the church on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery in Youngsville.
Steven was born on October 7, 1949, in Pineville, La. He was employed by South Central Bell for many years. Steven was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends when not enjoying nature. Steven and his wife, Tina, were married for 57 years.
Steven is survived by his wife, Christine "Tina" Ortego of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Dylan and Demi Ortego, Blaze Brignac, and Grace Way; and one brother, Mitchell Ortego and his wife, Marty and their daughter, Megan.
Steven was preceded in death by his son, David Ortego, his daughter, Emily Ortego, and his parents, Ray Ortego and his wife, Helena, and Viola Brasher and her husband, Augustin.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Courtyard Manor and Hospice of Acadiana for their care of Steven.

Steve hooked me on hunting ducks and deer. I have very fond memories of all those trips with Steve and David Ortego. I miss them both.
