Stoney Ellis Galbraith 60, of Johnston City, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 9th, surrounded by his loved ones after a battle with gallbladder cancer. Stoney was born July 2, 1965, in Eldorado, IL to the late Lowell Vernon Galbraith and Geraldine (Cluck) Galbraith.
Stoney's dad passed when he was only three. His mom ("Nan") raised him to be the most kind, loyal, loving, compassionate & caring human ever. He graduated Galatia High School and then attended SIC for a degree in criminal justice.
His family was his life.
He married the love of his life on Sept. 24th, 1997 (Tomi Bleyer), and they shared over 32 years of happiness together.
He also leaves behind 3 sons:
Keith Ellis Galbraith (& wife Becca Galbraith).
Jackson Dean Galbraith.
Wade Lowell Galbraith.
Before his passing, Stoney got to meet his first grandchild, Rosie Kay Galbraith, who was born in May.
Stoney is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell & Geraldine, and his sister Linda Tate.
Stoney is survived by his sister Shirley (Butch) Andersen, Brother-in-law Harold Tate,
Nephews: Danny Andersen, Bryant (Deann)Mitchell.
Niece: Brandi (Chris Desper)
Stoney enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family. He loved coaching little league, playing sports, fishing, playing poker with friends, and watching the Cardinals. He was a great son, husband, Dad, Gampy, uncle, and friend.
We were so lucky to have the best for us. You were our rock, our compass, we will keep your memory alive, until we meet again. Thank you for being the "goat" for us.
Celebration of life will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City.
The family would like to thank Dr.Mahmud and the nurses at Centralia Cancer care specialists.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with final expenses.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.
