Stuart Ross Obituary

Stuart "Stu" Ralph Ross, 82 of Essex, Vermont passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, after a long illness.
Stu was born in Quincy, MA and moved to VT as a young man after his father returned from WWII. Upon graduating high school, he immediately enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Bangor, ME working on jet engines for a majority of his time in the service. Upon leaving the military, Stu returned to VT and worked a majority of his career at IBM for 27 years.
Stu married the love of his life in 1967 and in the next few years they had a son and a daughter. They resided in Montpelier at the beginning of their marriage and then eventually moved to Essex where Stu was also a volunteer fireman in his younger years. Stu loved supporting his children's passions throughout his life. Stu and Donna loved to travel to the Cape every year and his love for driving remained in his retirement years. Stu followed in his father's footsteps and volunteered his time driving for SSTA. Throughout Stu's life-long journey his sense of humor remained intact. He made connections with people along the way and even during his time at the hospital he still had his sense of humor.
Stu is survived by his wife, Donna Stebbins Ross, his sister, Carolyn Balentine and her husband Walter Balentine, children, Darren S. Ross and his significant other, Ellen Raymond (Colchester, VT), Nicole M. Wright and her spouse, Keith P. Wright (So. Burington, VT), and his two grandchildren, Shane Wright, spouse Kaity Wright, and Stephanie Savary, spouse Steven Savary, and two great-grandsons, Lincoln and Owen Wright and the first great-granddaughter, Eleanor Savary soon to arrive this fall, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Stu.
Stu's remembrance will be held at Stephen Gregory and Son's in South Burlington Vermont on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to SSTA, https://www.sstarides.org/donate A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
