Susan Laska Matys
April 30, 1957 - March 15, 2025
Susan Matys, 67, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Sue was born and raised in Worcester and resided in Holden for many years. She leaves her husband Rich; her children, Luke, Brandon, Nick, and Sarah; along with her mother Violet Laska; and siblings, Sandra Jackson and Stephen Laska.
Sue loved the experience and respect she had gained professionally, which she would credit to her many colleagues and mentors. She was especially proud of the accomplished family she struggled to leave behind and her partner in life. No matter what obstacles they faced, Rich and Sue faced them together.
Many would say she was a great cook and would spend hours in her kitchen or weekends reading (and collecting new recipes). She also found the time to at least start, maybe never finishing, multiple sewing, knitting, and quilting projects.
Sue's life was always busy, but she would want everyone to know that she liked it that way and wouldn't have changed a thing.
Her circle of friends, old and new, were a source of smiles, especially during her illness.
There are no calling hours and services will be private. Sue will be buried in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a place she loved.
