Susan Mottram Obituary

Susan Strollo Mottram, 72, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on July 3, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family, from complications due to multiple sclerosis.
A lifelong resident of Lakeland, she was the daughter of Al and Olga Strollo. In 1968, Susan experienced the heartbreaking loss of her sister, Anna Marie. That early loss shaped her deep empathy and lasting appreciation for the people she loved. Susan carried her sister's memory with her throughout life, and it helped inspire the care and thoughtfulness she gave so freely to others.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she earned a degree in Art Education. She had a natural talent for creativity, which she shared generously, whether in the classroom or at home. On July 28, 1978, she married Thomas William Mottram, and together they built a life grounded in love and family. Susan worked with her father in his later years managing the building associated with the extended family's former business, the Strollo brothers' restaurant.
Susan's greatest joy came from being a mother to Amber and Loren. She made the everyday feel special, whether it was cheering at little league games, playing music, or simply being present. Her warmth, encouragement, generosity and sense of humor touched everyone who knew her.
Though living with MS brought many challenges, Susan never lost her love for nature, her appreciation for music, or her joy in being with her family. She faced each day with acceptance and grace.
She is survived by her daughter Amber Mottram-Anderson and son-in-law Matthew Anderson of St. Augustine, FL; her son Loren Thomas Mottram of Lakeland, FL; and her brother Steven Strollo of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her sister Anna Marie Strollo, and her parents Al and Olga.
A graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, 2125 S Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL.33801
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in Susan's memory, honoring her love for animals.
